ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

              This Committee, typically composed of faculty, staff, student representatives, and external experts, is tasked with creating a safe and supportive environment free from harassment and abuse. Their responsibilities encompass formulating and enforcing anti-ragging policies, organizing awareness campaigns, providing support mechanisms for victims, and conducting investigations into reported incidents.

         By fostering a culture of respect, empathy, and accountability, the Anti-Ragging Committee safeguards students’ physical and mental health and upholds the integrity and reputation of the Institution. Moreover, they are critical in promoting a conducive learning environment where everyone feels valued, respected, and empowered to thrive.

  1. Chairperson:
    • Preside over committee meetings and activities.
    • Provide leadership and direction to the Committee.
    • Ensure that anti-ragging policies and procedures are effectively implemented.
    • Liaise with institutional authorities, external stakeholders, law enforcement agencies, and all other authorities required occasionally.
    • Represent the Institution in legal proceedings related to ragging incidents, if necessary. 
  1. Faculty Members:
    • Participate actively in committee meetings and discussions.
    • Assist in developing and reviewing anti-ragging policies and procedures.
    • Monitor the campus environment for signs of ragging.
    • Provide counseling, guidance, and support to victims of ragging.
    • Conduct assessments of victims’ mental and emotional well-being.
    • Contribute to awareness and education initiatives.
    • Assist in developing strategies for coping with the effects of ragging.
  2. Student Representatives:
    • Act as a voice for students in committee deliberations.
    • Advocate for the rights and well-being of students.
    • Raise awareness about ragging among peers.
    • Report ragging incidents to the Committee confidentially.
    • Assist in organizing anti-ragging activities and events.
  3. Non-Teaching Staff Representatives:
    • Assist in coordinating committee meetings and activities.
    • Maintain records of reported ragging incidents and committee proceedings.
    • Liaise with relevant departments or offices for support services for victims.
    • Ensure compliance with institutional policies and regulatory requirements.
    • Assist in disseminating information about anti-ragging policies and procedures.
  4. Parent Representative:
    • Advocate for parental concerns and perspectives within the Committee.
    • Facilitate communication between the Committee and parents.
    • Provide support and guidance to parents of ragging victims.
    • Monitor the campus environment for signs of ragging and report incidents to the Committee.
    • Participate actively in committee meetings and activities.
    • Advocate for proactive measures to prevent ragging.
    • Educate parents about their role in preventing ragging.
    • Solicit feedback from parents and provide input to the Committee for improvement.
  5. External Member:
    • Bring external expertise and perspectives to committee discussions.
    • Provide insights into best practices and strategies for ragging prevention and response.
    • Advise the Committee on compliance with legal mandates and regulatory requirements.
    • Assist in organizing outreach activities and collaborations with external partners.
    • Participate in awareness and education initiatives aimed at the wider community.
    • Conducting training sessions on committee members’ legal rights and responsibilities.
