Anti Ragging Cell

As per UGC Regulations on the Menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions 2009 and Govt. order no: .ED/HE-301/2008/120 Dtd. 22/04/2009, Ragging in all its forms is totally banned in JB Institute of Technology, in campus as well as outside. Any behavior or act that comes under the definition of ragging will invite serious censures, as deemed fit by the College authority.

The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has issued regulations to prevent and prohibit ragging in Technical Institutions, including Universities. These regulations aim to prevent and eliminate the scourge of ragging, which includes conduct by students, such as teasing or treating with rudeness, rowdy or undisciplined activities, or asking students to do actions, they wouldn’t normally do. The regulations come into force on the date of notification and aim to provide for the healthy development of all students, physically and psychologically.

The act outlines measures for preventing ragging in Technical Institutions and Universities. It emphasizes the importance of clearly stating that ragging is strictly prohibited and punishable.

JBIT engages professional counselors at admissions to prepare fresher’s for life in hostels. At the start of academic sessions, the head of the institution convene a meeting to discuss measures to prevent ragging and identify offenders, if any.

JBIT implements a comprehensive anti-ragging campaign to familiarize freshers with the academic environment. The institution displays large posters on Notice Boards in departments, hostels, and other buildings, to raise awareness about the dehumanizing effect of ragging and its approach towards those involved. We also encourage media publicity on the law prohibiting ragging and its negative aspects, which helps in identifying, illuminating, and managing all vulnerable locations.

Monitoring mechanisms implemented in the campus, include an Anti-Ragging Committee, an Anti-Ragging Squad, a Mentoring Cell, and a specific Monitoring Cell on Ragging, which shall be primarily responsible for coordinating with institution’s concerned authorities, to achieve the objectives of regulations given by AICTE.

The Director of the Institution frequently takes adequate measures for preventing ragging and ensures liable action against the offenders. Students indulging and abetting ragging in the Institution, are liable to be punished exemplary and justifiably; harsh decisions taken by the formed committees and cells.
