The composition is structured to ensure fairness, impartiality, and expertise in handling student grievances. Here’s a breakdown of the typical composition:

  1. Chairperson:

    • The Director / Principal will serves as the Chairperson of the Committee and oversee its functioning. As the highest-ranking administrative authority, the Principal ensures that grievances are addressed promptly and fairly. The Chairperson provides leadership, oversight, and guidance to the committee and ensures that grievance resolution processes are conducted effectively and in accordance with institutional policies.
  2. Faculty Representatives:

    • Three senior members of the teaching faculty are nominated by the Principal to serve as members of the Committee.
    • One of the nominated members must be female to ensure gender diversity within the Committee.
    • Another member should belong to the SC/ST/OBC category, ensuring representation from marginalized communities.
    • Faculty members from different academic departments or disciplines are included in the committee to provide expertise in educational matters and contribute to resolving student grievances related to teaching, evaluation, or curriculum issues.
  3. Administrative Staff Representatives:

    • Administrative staff members, such as representatives from the registrar’s office, student affairs, or administration, are included to address non-academic grievances and ensure compliance with administrative procedures and policies.
  4. Student Representatives:

    • Student representatives play a crucial role in the SGRC, advocating for student interests, voicing student concerns, and ensuring student perspectives are adequately represented in the grievance resolution process.

By bringing together representatives from faculty, administration, students, and potentially external experts, the SGRC ensures that student grievances are addressed comprehensively and in a manner that reflects the academic community’s diverse interests and perspectives. This diverse composition contributes to the grievance redressal process’s effectiveness, transparency, and fairness.
