Anti Ragging Committee
ANTI RAGGING SQUAD
The formation of an Anti-Ragging Squad by the Anti-Ragging Committee of JBIT, Dehradun, indicates a proactive approach by the institution to prevent and address instances of ragging. The functioning of Anti Ragging Squad involves:
- Purpose: The primary purpose of the Anti-Ragging Squad is to monitor and prevent any form of ragging or harassment within the campus premises. They serve as the eyes and ears of the Anti-Ragging Committee, ensuring that the institution remains a safe and welcoming environment for all students.
- Composition: The squad will comprise faculty members, administrative staff, and senior students. Each member is trained to identify signs of ragging and take appropriate action in accordance with the institution’s anti-ragging policies.
- Responsibilities: The Anti-Ragging Squad’s responsibilities include patrolling the campus regularly, especially during vulnerable times such as the beginning of the academic year, when new students are more susceptible to ragging. They also keep a close watch on areas where raging incidents are more likely to occur, such as hostels, common areas, and secluded spots.
- Enforcement: If any squad member observes or receives a report of ragging, they are expected to intervene immediately and take necessary steps to stop the activity. This may involve confronting the perpetrators, assisting the victim, and reporting the incident to the Anti-Ragging Committee for further investigation and disciplinary action.
- Awareness: In addition to enforcement, the squad also raises students’ awareness about the consequences of ragging and the importance of maintaining a respectful and inclusive campus culture. They may organize workshops, seminars, or awareness campaigns to educate students about the harmful effects of ragging and encourage them to report any incidents promptly.
Forming an Anti-Ragging Squad underscores the institution’s commitment to creating a safe and conducive learning environment where every student can thrive without fear of harassment or intimidation. By working with the Anti-Ragging Committee, the squad plays a crucial role in upholding the values of dignity, respect, and equality within the campus community.
